Crater Lake was our first National Park stop on our big 2022 roadtrip from LA to Banff. This was a popular viewpoint, so we made sure to arrive early to find parking and secure a spot among a small crowd also there to watch the sunset.

As I attempt to find the words to describe how tranquil this moment was, the only thing that comes to mind is the swarms of mosquitoes I had to endure to get this photo... Apparently late-July in the PNW is peak mosquito season, which was especially bad that year. That combined with the fact I tend to attract mosquitoes made this a painful (and funny in retrospect) memory that will forever be tied to this photo.
