Desert Exhibit

  • location: Badwater Basin, CA
  • date: August 2014

Badwater Basin, in Death Valley National Park, is the lowest point in North America as well as one of the hottest. Naturally then, we decided to visit in the middle of the afternoon and in the middle of summer. Temperatures reached 120F, and opening the door to leave the car felt like entering a sauna. Surprisingly there were quite a few people there with us. We later learned that many Europeans from colder climates come just to experience the heat.
